Leaving the F&B Industry for Flexibility
For eight years, Marco Rodriguez worked the grueling night shifts of the restaurant industry. As a General Manager, he was responsible for everything from inventory and staffing to handling difficult customer complaints. While he enjoyed the leadership aspect, the burnout was real.
"I loved managing people, but I hated the instability of the schedule," Marco says. "I wanted to be home by 6:00 PM on weekends to see my kids, but the restaurant floor didn't allow that."
Marco was looking for a side hustle that offered genuine flexibility and didn't require a college degree. A friend mentioned Vexel—a platform connecting homeowners with vetted local pros. Marco decided to give it a shot, unsure if he could turn cleaning into a serious career.
